Flex2 :: Knowledge Consolidation
Hello,
BTW, I just got over a wicked slamming of the ’spring flu’. My kids had it too at the same time, terrible feelings.
There was just a post flexcoders that addressed tutorials, examples and such. I wrote a reply that mentioned my wiki on this site. I stated that this was for my own gain and anybody that wanted to contribute, go ahead.
There seems to be some interests in this. This wiki will be moderated by me and in the future those who show they are serious about the progress this could bring to our own livelihood. Heh, I feel compelled to expel my mouth again.
I created this site, wiki and blog for me. Isn’t that really how life is, we are self centered to a point? I have a different learning style than a lot but, I know there has to be others out there that think like me and will really get a lot out of what I am trying to accomplish. So now, I lay down the cards and say, it’s time to go man!
Sometimes people (like me) don’t live exactly by the ‘rules’ of life. IE follow the pattern of work/kids/tv, blah blah blah. This leads to opportunity for some (myself included). I am taking a step to try and change something about this world that I don’t like. This has to do with knowledge ownership and competition at another’s expense.
There is a point where it is just good karma to give others the hand they need across their own canyon. I know some have helped me. I give my thanks to Robert Reinhardt, who inspired me to do something great with my life. His one book “The Flash 5 Bible” got me into this whole programming mess. He gave me an out of Land Surveying to be home with my wonderful children and wife that I love dearly. Thanks Robert, see you never know who you touch. Although I bought his book with money, this leads me to my point.
I totally believe in getting paid for things you know. There is a point where you have to draw the line where others can be enabled through your own knowledge. The wiki will hold mass information that is organized but, you still need to know what you are looking for. I plan on creating tutorial packages for sale in the future. Now you might say, Mike, you just said you give information away for free!!! No man, I said there is a line, it’s called moderation. When you go out of your way to create something fantastic, you should get paid for it!
As I said on flexcoders, if you don’t want to contribute, just learn from others. Do me a favor though, tell a friend about it, so they can tell a friend that then might actually add more to the lump of info.
There is a way to circumvent information hording and the internet is doing a good job at dissolving the barrier of the last 200 years. Mark my words, in the next 20 years this subject will be under a completely different light.
Peace, Mike
